Team World seized the 2025 Laver Cup title with powerful performances by Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. On Sunday, Fritz defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) to clinch the final match and deliver a dominant 15-9 victory over Team Europe. De Minaur earned crucial points earlier in singles and doubles to firmly establish Team World’s momentum. The tournament took place at San Francisco’s Chase Center from September 19 to 21, on indoor hard courts, under captains Andre Agassi (World) and Yannick Noah (Europe).
Day One saw Europe lead 3-1 after strong doubles from Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Menšík, but Team World responded decisively on Day Two. Fritz stunned world number one Alcaraz 6-3, 6-2, while De Minaur beat Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4. World also secured a doubles win via De Minaur and Alex Michelsen, pushing the score to 9-3.
On the final day, Europe opened with a doubles win by Alcaraz and Casper Ruud, followed by a sharp singles win from Alcaraz. But Team World answered immediately: De Minaur beat Jakub Menšík 6-3, 6-4, setting up Fritz’s showdown with Zverev. Fritz broke in the first set, held serve under pressure in the second, and closed out the tiebreaker to seal victory.
Fritz’s win over Zverev improves his head-to-head record to 9-5, including six straight wins. De Minaur’s contributions totaled seven points across his matches. Joao Fonseca also added a Day One win, helping Team World’s overall result. With this result, Team World accrue three titles in the last four editions of the Laver Cup. Team Europe led in early editions, but World’s recent surge signals a shift in this rivalry.
The 2025 Laver Cup showcased intense energy, high stakes, and inspired performances. Fans witnessed how grit, strategy, and teamwork combined under the World banner. Next year, the competition returns at London’s O2 Arena, and Europe will aim to reclaim dominance.
