Wimbledon 2025 Men’s Qualifiers: Surprises, Straight-Sets Wins, and Five-Star Thrillers


The Wimbledon 2025 Men’s Singles Qualifying round saw action across courts with thrilling performances, dominant displays, and a few surprise exits. From rising stars to seasoned pros, players battled fiercely for a coveted main draw spot at the All England Club.

At the top of the draw, Spain’s Martin Landaluce showed composure beyond his years as he knocked out Britain’s Ryan Peniston in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Meanwhile, French veteran Adrian Mannarino cruised past Norway’s Nicolai Budkov Kjaer, 6-2, 6-3.

In one of the most dramatic matches, British wildcard Harry Stewart stunned Luca Van Assche 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-6(9), holding his nerve in a tense third-set tiebreak. Italy’s Giulio Zeppieri had a smooth win over Paul Jubb, 6-3, 6-2, while Argentina’s Juan Ficovich ousted Oliver Bonding 7-5, 6-4.

Australian James McCabe outclassed Román Burruchaga 6-1, 6-4, while Taro Daniel fell short in a tight 3-setter against Terence Atmane. Marcelo Barrios Vera, Dusan Lajovic, and Nicolas Jarry each posted solid straight-sets victories.

On Court 6, Beibit Zhukayev shocked Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(7), 6-3 in a notable upset. Australia’s Li Tu edged past Shintaro Mochizuki 3-6, 7-6(8), 7-6(9) in a heart-stopper.

On Court 18, Japan’s Yosuke Watanuki defeated Cannon Kingsley Smith 7-6(3), 6-3, while Dominic Stricker sent Emilio Nava packing in straight sets, 7-6(2), 6-4.

Other notable wins included Luca Nardi, Fabian Marozsan, Sebastian Ofner, Alex Bolt, and Brandon Holt, as the qualifying field begins to narrow for main draw dreams at SW19.
