The Wimbledon 2025 women’s quarterfinals delivered drama, comebacks, and dominance as Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova advanced to the final four in contrasting styles on the hallowed grass of SW19.

Sabalenka Fights Back to Overcome Siegemund on Centre Court

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka had to dig deep to fend off Germany’s Laura Siegemund, eventually winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in a tense three-set encounter.

Siegemund came out firing on Centre Court, breaking early and frustrating Sabalenka with her slice-heavy game and net approaches. The German took the opening set 6-4, threatening a major upset.

But Sabalenka, known for her raw power and aggressive baseline play, regrouped quickly. She raised her intensity and started to dominate the rallies, blasting winners and converting key break points to take the second set 6-2.

In the decider, Siegemund continued to scrap, but Sabalenka’s serve held firm in the crucial moments. With the crowd on edge, the Belarusian closed out the match with a booming forehand on her second match point.

“She really made me work today,” said Sabalenka. “I had to stay focused and fight for every point. I’m really proud of how I turned it around.”

This marks Sabalenka’s third Wimbledon semifinal, keeping alive her quest for a first title at the All England Club.

Anisimova Cruises Past Pavlyuchenkova in Straight Sets

On Court 1, Amanda Anisimova produced one of her cleanest performances of the tournament, easing past Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with a 6-1, 7-6(9) victory.

The American came out blazing, dictating play with her flat groundstrokes and impeccable timing. She broke Pavlyuchenkova twice in the opening set, sealing it in just over 30 minutes.

The second set proved far more competitive, with both players trading breaks and forcing a tight tiebreak. Anisimova showed mental toughness, saving two set points and converting on her third match point to win the breaker 11-9.

“The tiebreak was intense, but I stayed aggressive and trusted my shots,” said Anisimova. “I’m super excited to be in the semifinals of Wimbledon—this is a dream.”

With this win, Anisimova reaches her first Wimbledon semifinal, showing the form that once took her to a French Open semifinal back in 2019.
