Jessica Pegula Clinches Seventh Career Title at ATX Open in Austin

Jessica Pegula continues to shine on the WTA circuit! The World No. 4 secured her first title of 2025 and the seventh of her career with a commanding 7-5, 6-2 victory over fellow American McCartney Kessler in the ATX Open final on Sunday.

Pegula’s Comeback Seals the Win

The top-seeded Pegula faced an early challenge as Kessler, the No. 5 seed, surged to a 4-2 lead in the first set. However, Pegula quickly turned the tide, winning five of the next six games to take the set. She continued her dominance in the second set, breaking Kessler’s serve multiple times to wrap up the match in 83 minutes.

Kessler struggled with consistency, hitting 34 unforced errors and four double faults. Meanwhile, Pegula capitalized on six of her ten break-point opportunities, showcasing her experience and precision.

A Historic All-American Showdown

This was the first all-American final on U.S. soil since Sloane Stephens defeated Madison Keys in the 2017 U.S. Open final. For Pegula, the victory was especially sweet, marking her first title win in the United States in six years.

The win also snaps a three-match losing streak in finals for Pegula, giving her a confidence boost ahead of major WTA 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami.

Emma Navarro Dominates at Merida Open Akron

At the Merida Open Akron, top-seeded Emma Navarro delivered a flawless performance, crushing Colombian qualifier Emiliana Arango 6-0, 6-0 to claim her second career title. Navarro needed just 55 minutes to seal the win, not dropping a single set throughout the tournament.

With Pegula and Navarro in top form, American tennis fans have much to look forward to in the coming months!
