Grass King Returns: Taylor Fritz Dominates Zverev to Win BOSS Open and Reclaim No. 4 Spot

Taylor Fritz Reigns in Stuttgart, Defeats Zverev for Fifth Time to Kickstart Grass Season with BOSS Open Title

Taylor Fritz is back in championship form as he conquered the grass courts of Stuttgart, Germany, to win the BOSS Open 2025, defeating home favorite Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(0) in a straight-sets final. This marks Fritz’s first ATP title of the season and a powerful statement as the grass-court swing begins. The American’s win is especially sweet — it’s his fifth consecutive victory over Zverev, solidifying his psychological edge in this growing rivalry.

Despite a rain delay disrupting the final, Fritz stayed locked in, cruising through the second-set tiebreak without dropping a point. His strong performance not only earned him the Stuttgart crown but also bumped him back up to No. 4 in the ATP rankings, leapfrogging none other than Novak Djokovic.

“I’m back,” Fritz confidently scribbled on the camera lens — and indeed he is.

This title comes at a perfect time for the 27-year-old American, who had an underwhelming clay-court season and suffered a first-round exit at Roland Garros. Now, with the grass season underway, he looks recharged and dangerous. His road to the title included a win over Félix Auger-Aliassime in the semis, showcasing his form and readiness for Wimbledon.

Fritz’s victory in Stuttgart is his 8th career ATP title and a reminder of his prowess on grass — the same surface where he reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals last year. Zverev, frustrated by yet another loss to Fritz, joked on court, “Please stay away from me. Don’t come to Germany anymore,” drawing laughter from the crowd.

With the Queen’s Club Championships next on the calendar, Fritz heads to London with confidence and momentum. His return to top form could make him a serious Wimbledon title contender. If he finds rhythm early at the All England Club, Fritz may just turn a rocky season into a memorable one.
