Eala Stuns Yastremska, Joint Impresses Again as Gracheva and Pavlyuchenkova Reach Semis at Eastbourne

The Lexus Eastbourne Open 2025 women’s quarterfinals delivered a mix of dominant performances, rising stars making statements, and unexpected withdrawals, setting the stage for an exciting semifinal showdown on the English grass courts.

Filipina teenager Alex Eala continued her dream run by dismantling Dayana Yastremska in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Eala was in complete control from the start, using her powerful forehand and court coverage to outplay the Ukrainian. The 19-year-old’s confidence and poise have been a standout this week, and she’s now into her first WTA 500 semifinal.

Australia’s Maya Joint, one of the tournament’s breakout stars, delivered another composed performance, defeating Anna Blinkova 6-4, 7-5. Joint’s serve and ability to attack short balls proved too much for Blinkova, who struggled to find her rhythm in the face of consistent pressure from the Aussie.

In a match that showcased experience and tactical variation, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova booked her spot in the semis with a three-set victory over Kamilla Rakhimova, 6-2, 2-6, 6-0. After a mid-match dip, Pavlyuchenkova found her groove in the decider, dominating with powerful groundstrokes and smart court placement.

Meanwhile, Varvara Gracheva advanced without having to strike a ball as Barbora Krejcikova withdrew due to injury, handing Gracheva a walkover into the semifinals. It’s a fortunate break for the Frenchwoman, who will now be fresher heading into her next match.
