Alejandro Tabilo’s journey to the top tier of tennis is a testament to perseverance and self-belief. Born to Chilean parents in Canada, Tabilo discovered his passion for tennis early. At 18, he made the bold decision to return to Chile to pursue a professional career. What followed was nearly a decade of relentless work, highlighted by moments of triumph and struggle.
In 2024, Tabilo’s dedication paid off. The left-hander secured two ATP titles, broke into the Top 20, and achieved a career-defining victory over Novak Djokovic in Rome. Reflecting on that match, Tabilo said, “I went in with nothing to lose, just swinging, and suddenly I was up 4-0.”
Despite setbacks, including a string of losses before Almaty, Tabilo’s determination remains unshaken. His resilience shone in Kazakhstan, where he overcame challenging conditions and advanced with composure.
Tabilo also found inspiration as a member of Team World at the Laver Cup, competing alongside Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. The experience, he said, opened his eyes to the intense preparation and focus required to compete against the world’s best.
Now ranked No. 23, the 27-year-old is nominated for the ATP’s Most Improved Player Award. With his sights set on breaking into the Top 15 and beyond, Tabilo is ready for more. “The challenges have only fueled my fire,” he says. For Tabilo, the best is yet to come.
