Humbert Shines, Sonego Falls & Zhang Retires in Open 13 Provence Quarterfinals

It was a dramatic day at the Open 13 Provence as French star Ugo Humbert cruised past Lorenzo Sonego, while Zizou Bergs advanced after Zhang Zhizhen retired mid-match.

Humbert, the tournament’s hometown favorite, put on a strong performance to defeat Italy’s Sonego 6-4, 6-4. The Frenchman dominated key moments, using his precise shot-making and powerful serves to control the match. Despite Sonego’s efforts to break back, Humbert stayed composed, securing a straight-set victory and a spot in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, in another quarterfinal clash, Belgium’s Zizou Bergs moved forward after Zhang Zhizhen was forced to retire. Bergs had taken the first set 7-5 when Zhang, struggling physically, could not continue. It was an unfortunate end for the Chinese player, who had been fighting hard throughout the match.

With these results, Humbert and Bergs now move one step closer to the Open 13 title. Can Humbert continue his winning run on home soil? Stay tuned for more action from Marseille!
