Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti will meet in a thrilling dream final at the inaugural Hellenic Championship in Athens. Djokovic defeated German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4, showing complete control from start to finish in an impressive performance.
Djokovic looked sharp and confident throughout the match, breaking Hanfmann twice and dominating rallies with his trademark consistency and accuracy. The Serbian quickly recovered after an early break and powered through with strong baseline play and mental composure.
He said it was his best tennis of the tournament, expressing satisfaction at returning to another final after a few tough semifinals. Djokovic mentioned that Hanfmann’s big serve was challenging but praised his own focus and execution under pressure.
This marks Djokovic’s 144th tour-level final and his third of the season after strong runs in Miami and Geneva tournaments. He now eyes his 101st career title, aiming to lift his first trophy in his new home city of Athens.
Meanwhile, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti battled hard against American Sebastian Korda, winning 6-0, 5-7, 7-5 in a tense two-hour thriller. Musetti saved a match point before turning the contest around with great composure and shot variety under pressure.
The 23-year-old Italian said the match was intense and high-level, crediting both players for giving the crowd a fantastic contest. Musetti now stands just one victory away from qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin, a dream he has chased all season.
He stated, “I am playing for two goals — winning the title and reaching the ATP Finals,” reflecting his deep motivation ahead of the final. Musetti has already finished runner-up twice this season and hopes this will finally be his breakthrough moment.
