Tatjana Maria Upsets Rybakina as Keys, Zheng & Anisimova Advance to HSBC Championships Semifinals
The quarterfinals at the HSBC Championships 2025 in London delivered a thrilling mix of upsets and dominant performances. In the shock of the day, Germany’s crafty veteran Tatjana Maria stunned fourth seed and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina with a 6-4, 7-6(4) straight-sets victory. Using her trademark slice and tactical net play, Maria kept Rybakina off-balance and out of rhythm to seal one of the biggest wins of her grass-court career.

American powerhouse Madison Keys fought her way through a gritty three-set battle against rising Russian talent Diana Shnaider, eventually prevailing 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Keys showed composure under pressure and used her powerful forehand to dictate the final set, earning a spot in the semifinals.

In a commanding performance, Qinwen Zheng of China overwhelmed Britain’s Emma Raducanu 6-2, 6-4. Zheng’s aggressive play and baseline consistency left Raducanu struggling to find rhythm in front of her home crowd, continuing the Chinese star’s impressive form on grass.

The all-American quarterfinal between Amanda Anisimova and Emma Navarro was a display of precision and poise from Anisimova, who cruised through 6-3, 6-3. Her clean ball-striking and court control helped her advance without dropping a set.
